The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

For sure. I drive an articulated lorry and sometimes deliver to new-build developments. Developers invariably build at the front of the plot first, so they can sell those houses and recoup cash while they build more houses further back.

From the day those buyers move in to the first six houses on a 200 house estate, they whinge about the noisy juggernauts driving past their houses onto the site, about the mud, the noise, everything.

Happily, Dreamland's most ardent opponent on this forum seems to be taking a break at the moment, otherwise I'm sure he too would be keen to point out how awful it must be having to put up with the sound of people having fun while you are moving in to your new home.

I think we just have to go with what we have at the moment and let the future worry about itself.

I work in a 1920 s workshop that use to work for the best part of 24hrs a day. A local builder built about eight houses right behind our w/shop and we now have to stop making a noise at 22.00 and not start again until 06.00.
